MAHEC seeks to fill a full-time (40 hour/week; occasional weekend hours), benefited position of Simulation Education to join our Regional Services division. The purpose of this Simulation Educator position is to assure the effective and efficient operation of the Simulation Center by overseeing the operation of low, medium, and high fidelity technology, provide technical skills, instruction, and evaluation that supports the use of simulation by medical education programs, nursing education programs, and other healthcare personnel within the 15,000 square foot Simulation Center.

The Simulation Educator works as part of a team to develop and implement simulation-base education designed to enhance patient safety and quality in health care delivery. The main focus of the Simulation Educator is the responsibility for coordination of a number of key programs delivered by MAHEC, development of educational programs, teaching, coordination and administrative tasks related to courses, workshops, and other events, as well as clinical session preparation and break-down, operation of simulators and taking the role of faculty actor in immersive simulation training sessions.  The Simulation Educator will work collaboratively with and support the Director and Medical Director of the Simulation Center through business planning, promotion of the Center, development of business opportunities, preparation of the budget, procurement planning, and schedule planning. The Simulation Educator will answer student and faculty questions, assist students and faculty with simulation programs and assist faculty in preparation for simulation experiences.

The Simulation Educator will work collaboratively with the Simulation Center Director, Simulation Center Medical Director, and Simulation Center Specialist to ensure integration of interprofessional simulation across WNC. Educational programs will be delivered at MAHEC and also at surrounding facilities. Education will be dedicated to delivering simulation to medical students, residents, nurses, EMS/EMT, and other healthcare staff within their environments where team training and the discovery of latent errors can take place.

 

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in business education or healthcare (nursing degree or other healthcare field preferred)
  • Experience in a student-centric and hands-on learning environment
  • 3 years Clinical experience
  • Licensure in NC
  • Valid driver license required
  • ACLS, BLS and PALS Instructor
  • Proven competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proven proficiency in multiple computer platforms, software applications and audio/visual methods for recording and editing
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to move equipment and learning materials (up to 30 pounds)
  • Experience with development of simulation scenarios and operation of 3G manikins a plus
